🧭 buck lake county park!

what do you do when you want to enjoy a beautiful park hike, but also REALLY don’t want to miss out on fresh, home-grilled salmon? You POWER-WALK it, baby!

we could have spent much more time at buck lake county park, located way up at the north end of the kitsap peninsula. it’s a lovely place, featuring beautifully curated gardens, a gorgeous lake, expansive picnic greens, and a lush forest with miles of trails for horses & humans.

my cousin in a nearby town, however, invited us over for supper, offering to grill up salmon he’d recently caught in the salish sea. so we booked it back to the car well before the park had been fully appreciated. we’d love to make it back some day!

by the way… as we hiked through the forest and the sun fell lower in the sky i forgot to switch my camera to low-light mode, resulting in most of that footage being shaky/shimmery/blurry. sorry about that!

in may 2026 i had the opportunity to work & play in western washington state for a couple of weeks. this is the 15th of 18 mini-adventures i took with southern minnesota guy as we made the most of our time in america’s beautiful pacific northwest!

my trail name’s mythic and in 2026 i’m continuing my multi-year thru-hike (m.y.t.h.) of the pacific crest trail. as i prepare to return to the pct (and hopefully tackle other section- and thru-hikes in the future), i'm going on day hikes to help keep in trail shape!
