pnw adventure #13

🧭 green mountain!

with only afternoons available for outdoor activities, our washington trip schedule didn’t allow for true “training hikes”. that said, the six miles up to green mountain and back sure felt substantial!

starting from the gold creek trailhead we hiked up to the green mountain vista, keeping our heads on a swivel due to the trail being shared by mountain bikes and horses. the payoff at the top was fantastic, with views of the seattle city skyline, mount rainier, and other major peaks.

we took the beaver pond trail on the way back down, encountering a lengthy stretch of challenging footing due to large rocks that could have easily caused an ankle sprain. (we took it easy and escaped injury!)

this was nothing like hiking in the sierra, but definitely more challenging that any trails we have back home!

in may 2026 i had the opportunity to work & play in western washington state for a couple of weeks. this is the 13th of 18 mini-adventures i took with southern minnesota guy as we made the most of our time in america’s beautiful pacific northwest!

my trail name’s mythic and in 2026 i’m continuing my multi-year thru-hike (m.y.t.h.) of the pacific crest trail. as i prepare to return to the pct (and hopefully tackle other section- and thru-hikes in the future), i'm going on day hikes to help keep in trail shape!
