pnw adventure #8
🧠guillemot cove nature reserve!
i was looking for a little “pct prep”, and found it in a hike down to (and back up from) hood canal on the west side of the kitsap peninsula. without my trusty hiking poles, the elevation losses & gains were humbling. i definitely need to up my training game!
the nature reserve’s forest trail was beautiful, the beach view rather lovely, and the “stump house” quite enchanting. “what’s a stump house?” you ask? gotta watch the video to find out! :)
in may 2026 i had the opportunity to work & play in western washington state for a couple of weeks. this is the 8th of 18 mini-adventures i took with southern minnesota guy as we made the most of our time in america’s beautiful pacific northwest!
my trail name’s mythic and in 2026 i’m continuing my multi-year thru-hike (m.y.t.h.) of the pacific crest trail. as i prepare to return to the pct (and hopefully tackle other section- and thru-hikes in the future), i'm going on day hikes to help keep in trail shape!
