day hike!
🗺️ traverse des sioux park!
on november 28, 2025 i explored some minnesota river floodplain trails with southern minnesota guy in the city of st. peter — traditional territory of the Očhéthi Šakówiŋ, Wahpekute, and Wahpeton nations.
we’ve previously visited the traverse des sioux treaty site history center (and it happened to be closed this particular day), but the adjoining park and hiking trails were new to us. this area has a history of flooding so the trails aren’t always available to hikers; when they are, however, it never hurts to have a good hiking app to help you explore. i took a few moments on this hike to chat about one of my favorites: onX. my trail name’s mythic and in 2025 i continued my multi-year thru-hike (m.y.t.h.) of the pacific crest trail. as i make plans to return to the pct (and hopefully tackle other section- and thru-hikes in the future), i'm going on day hikes to help keep in trail shape!
