day hike!
🦌 fort ridgely state park!
on november 16, 2025 i drove to the far northwestern corner of nicollet county, minnesota — traditional territory of the Očhéthi Šakówiŋ, Wahpekute, and Wahpeton nations — to visit a beautiful and historically significant place.
today, fort ridgely state park offers miles of hiking trails down forested hills, across trickling creeks, and up to scenic vistas. in 1862, it was the site of one of several battles in the U.S.-Dakota War, which took the lives of around 500 settlers, 80 soldiers, and hundreds of Dakota people.
my trail name’s mythic and in 2025 i continued my multi-year thru-hike (m.y.t.h.) of the pacific crest trail. as i make plans to return to the pct (and hopefully tackle other section- and thru-hikes in the future), i'm going on day hikes to help keep in trail shape!
