day hike!
🐶 kiwanis recreation area!
on november 9, 2025, i made a quick pit-stop (although not as quick as usual!) at the kiwanis recreation area just off of highway 169 on the north end of mankato, minnesota — traditional territory of the Očhéthi Šakówiŋ, Wahpekute, and Wahpeton nations.
i’ve often visited this park for its terrific restrooms but never to explore the trails there, whether hiking nor biking. and for that matter, i also haven’t taken advantage of the rec area’s dog park and archery range. so come for the potty break; stay for the other lovely amenities!
my trail name’s mythic and in 2025 i continued my multi-year thru-hike (m.y.t.h.) of the pacific crest trail. as i make plans to return to the pct (and hopefully tackle other section- and thru-hikes in the future), i'm going on day hikes to help keep in trail shape!
