day hike!
🛩️ flandrau state park!
on october 25, 2025, southern minnesota guy and i did a “hiking club 5k” at flandrau state park in new ulm, minnesota — traditional territory of the Očhéthi Šakówiŋ, Wahpekute, and Wahpeton nations.
this is a beautiful park bordered by the cottonwood river and home to a cool pebble-bottomed swimming pool that is a bit more fun in the summertime than mid-autumn. other recreational opportunities include RV, tent, and cabin camping, along with numerous hiking trails… one of which takes you right to schell’s brewery!
my trail name’s mythic and in 2025 i continued my multi-year thru-hike (m.y.t.h.) of the pacific crest trail. as i make plans to return to the pct (and hopefully tackle other section- and thru-hikes in the future), i'm going on day hikes to help keep in trail shape!
