day hike!
🐦 lake maria state park!
we’re back, baby! a couple of weeks after returning from our big pacific northwest trip, sominnguy & i went on a more modest weekend excursion right here in minnesota.
our first stop was in wright county, minnesota — home to indigenous speakers of the Lakȟótiyapi (Lakota), Dakȟóta (Western Dakota), and Dakhóta (Eastern Dakota) languages — for a little hike at lake maria state park.
we enjoyed identifying plants both pleasant (wild geranium) & unpleasant (poison ivy), along with a cacophony of birds. SO MANY BIRDS. but soon we needed to keep moving on; our ultimate destination this weekend was further down the road. stay tuned to learn what’s next! :)
my trail name’s mythic and in 2026 i’m continuing my multi-year thru-hike (m.y.t.h.) of the pacific crest trail. as i prepare to return to the pct (and hopefully tackle other section- and thru-hikes in the future), i'm going on day hikes to help keep in trail shape!
