🧭 banner forest heritage park!

kitsap county knows a thing or two about public parks — they’ve got 42! — including how to cram a lot of hiking into them! At 636 acres, banner forest heritage park isn’t even their biggest, but it features a meandering maze of nearly 30 miles of trail through a lush green landscape. what a treasure!

in may 2026 i had the opportunity to work & play in western washington state for a couple of weeks. this was the last of 18 mini-adventures i took with southern minnesota guy as we made the most of our time in america’s beautiful pacific northwest!

joining us on our final hike of this trip was my frequent hiking partner, blue magic. i had to fly home to minnesota after this, but i’m already looking forward to catching up with her once more later this summer when we return to log another few hundred miles on the pacific crest trail!

my trail name’s mythic and in 2026 i’m continuing my multi-year thru-hike (m.y.t.h.) of the pacific crest trail. as i prepare to return to the pct (and hopefully tackle other section- and thru-hikes in the future), i'm going on day hikes to help keep in trail shape!
