pnw adventure #5
🧭 japanese american exclusion memorial
the majority of our free time in washington was spent exploring nature and appreciating america’s beauty. this memorial on bainbridge island, though, is dedicated to a time of deep ugliness in our nation’s history. i encourage you to visit the japanese american exclusion memorial in person or https://bijaema.org/ to understand the site’s significance.
in may 2026 i had the opportunity to work & play in western washington state for a couple of weeks. this is the 5th of 18 mini-adventures i took with sominnguy as we made the most of our time in america’s beautiful pacific northwest.
my trail name’s mythic and in 2026 i’m continuing my multi-year thru-hike (m.y.t.h.) of the pacific crest trail. as i prepare to return to the pct (and hopefully tackle other section- and thru-hikes in the future), i'm going on day hikes to help keep in trail shape!
