day hike!

🤟 timberlane county park!

fresh snow fell on february 1st, motivating southern minnesota guy & me to refresh our souls with a quiet hike at a favorite martin county nature area — traditional territory of the Wahpeton and Očhéthi Šakówiŋ nations.

for more than a month minnesota has been subjected to a surge of federal agents supposedly on a mission to remove violent undocumented immigrant criminals from our streets. in reality these masked interlopers are arbitrarily terrorizing citizens and non-citizens alike, mostly people of color, regardless of criminal background. lives have been lost, families ripped apart, and innocent people jailed; meanwhile the administration lies about events we’ve all seen with our own eyes, and refuses to hold anyone accountable.

despite weeks of sustained chaos and brutality from these government forces, the response by minnesotans has been incredibly inspiring. regular people are standing up to protect their neighbors, documenting unconstitutional acts, and providing for those in need. the individual and collective bravery displayed in the spontaneous, decentralized, and non-violent resistance to oppression, particularly in minneapolis/st. paul, is a beautiful reminder that love is more powerful than hate.

you may not live next door to anyone immediately impacted by what’s happening here in minnesota but we’re all still neighbors, and we can all find ways to lend a hand. check out https://linktr.ee/mplsmutualaid for a list of some organizations that are directly helping on the ground here and could use your support. to everyone looking out for your neighbor... we see you, and we love you.

my trail name’s mythic and in 2026 i’m continuing my multi-year thru-hike (m.y.t.h.) of the pacific crest trail. as i prepare to return to the pct (and hopefully tackle other section- and thru-hikes in the future), i'm going on day hikes to help keep in trail shape!
