day hike!
🏙️ hyland lake park reserve!
with some time on our hands before a charlie berens standup concert in minneapolis, southern minnesota guy, myself, and a friend went on an urban wilderness hike in hennepin county, minnesota — traditional territory of the Wahpekute and Očhéthi Šakówiŋ nations.
tons of people were out enjoying the beautiful day. i was surprised that with april just a few days away, the park still had well-maintained snow trails for cross country skiing, and evidence that it had been used very recently. most trails were completely clear, and the one we chose encircling hyland lake had a wonderful packed dirt surface.
charlie was hilarious, by the way!
my trail name’s mythic and in 2026 i’m continuing my multi-year thru-hike (m.y.t.h.) of the pacific crest trail. as i prepare to return to the pct (and hopefully tackle other section- and thru-hikes in the future), i'm going on day hikes to help keep in trail shape!
